Indian Periodical - Submit MSS
INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
Submit MSS online
Manuscripts. All submissions should include a cover page and
separate pages for the abstract, tables, figures, footnotes, and appendices.
The abstract should contain 125-150 words on a separate page. The cover page
should include the article title, as well as complete contact information for
the corresponding author, including name, address, telephone number, fax number,
and e-mail address. If the manuscript has multiple authors, one person should
be designated as the contact author. Pages should be double-spaced, single-column
format, numbered consecutively after the abstract page, and formatted with at
least one-inch margins on all four sides.
Manuscript Guidelines for Manuscripts ACCEPTED for Publication after
Review
Articles should be submitted along with a signed copyright transfer agreement.
Copies of this agreement are reprinted in selected issues of the journal and
may also be obtained from the managing editor or the publisher, as well as the
journal's Web site. In the case of a "work made for hire," the employer
must sign the agreement. A signed copyright transfer agreement is required before
a manuscript can be published, which serves as a transfer of copyright from
author to publisher. It is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission
to reproduce material that has appeared in another publication.
Authors will receive typeset proofs that must be corrected and returned within
48 hours. No new material may be inserted in the text at the proofreading stage.
A reprint order form is enclosed with the proofs. This form should be completed
and returned with the proofs to the publisher.
- Figures. Figures should be cited within the manuscript
and placed at the end of the paper with each figure on its own page and printed
in camera-ready quality for reproduction in the journal. They should not be
embedded within the body of the paper. Figures should be provided as high-resolution
TIFF or EPS (with preview) files, one for each figure.
- Tables. Tables should be cited within the manuscript and
placed at the end of the paper with each table on its own page. They should
not be embedded within the body of the paper.
- Footnotes. The use of footnotes should be avoided. If the
author feels that a footnote would clarify, extend a point, or improve the
readability of the text, a few footnotes may be included, but never for reference
sources. Footnotes should be double-spaced on a separate page and be numbered
consecutively throughout the text.
- References. Literature references should be indicated in
text by the name of the author and the year of the publication with their
page numbers. If the reference is from internet, web link must be specified.
- Please return your signed forms and final, revised manuscript on disk as
well as a printout of the final article to Indian Periodical (Granthlok,
5 New Pali Road, P.O. Box 33, Jodhpur - 342001 India). The hard copy
must match the disk. Given the near-universal use of computer word
processing for manuscript preparation, we anticipate that providing a disk
will be convenient for you, and it carries the added advantages of maintaining
the integrity of your keystrokes and expediting typesetting.
- Storage medium. 3-1/2" high-density disk in IBM MS-DOS,
Windows, or Macintosh format. CD-ROM disks and Iomega Zip disks may be needed
to store larger files. At authors' request, disks will be returned after publication.
- Labels. Label all disks with your name, the file name,
and the word processing program and version used.
Print and return with labeled diskette(s)
- Corresponding author's name
- E-mail address
- Telephone
- MSS number
- Program(s) & version(s) used
- Miscellaneous
I certify that the material on the enclosed disk(s) is identical
in both word and content to the printed copy herewith enclosed.

Text
- Software and format. Microsoft Word 98 or Microsoft Word
2000 format is preferred, although later versions are acceptable, as well
as manuscripts prepared with any other microcomputer word processor. PDF is
not acceptable for final manuscript submission. Refrain from complex formatting;
the publisher will style your manuscript according to the journal design specifications.
Do not use desktop publishing software such as Aldus PageMaker or Quark XPress.
If you prepared your manuscript with one of these programs, export the text
to a word processing format. Please make sure your word processing program's
"fast save" feature is turned off. Please do not deliver files that
contain hidden text: for example, do not use your word processor's automated
features to create footnotes or reference lists. If the track changes tool
was used, accept all changes and save them before submitting the manuscript.
- File names. Submit the text and tables of each manuscript
as a single file. Name each file with your last name (up to eight letters).
Text files should be given the three-letter extension that identifies the
file format.
Illustrations
- Software and format. All illustration files should be in
TIFF or EPS (with preview) formats. Do not submit native application formats.
Submit as separate files from text files and on separate disks. If feasible,
full color files should be submitted on separate disks from other image files.
All print reproduction requires files for full color images to be in a CMYK
color space.
- Resolution. Journal quality reproduction will require gray
scale and color files at resolutions yielding approximately 300 ppi. Bitmapped
line art should be submitted at resolutions yielding 600-1200 ppi. These resolutions
refer to the output size of the file; if you anticipate that your images will
be enlarged or reduced, resolutions should be adjusted accordingly.
- File names. Illustration files should be given the three-letter
extension that identifies the file format used (i.e., .tif, .eps).
